ABOUT BEES

The story of bees on Earth is numbering several million years. They appeared on our planet the Tertiary period at the beginning of the Cenozoic era, 65 million years ago, long before the appearance of man and is considered one of the oldest residents that still exists even today. It is one of the few species of insects that man tried to take advantage of, seeing that he would have some benefit. Since prehistoric times people knew how to get the honey and use it in their diet and for many centuries it was the only known sweetener. In our country, the principle of Greek beekeeping lost in the distant past of the legendary era. The gods of Olympus were fed with nectar and ambrosia!

If we were asked by someone to name the purpose of bees on earth, probably we would reply that it is to offer us their precious in texture and delicious products that we all know, perhaps ignoring the actual role that nature has assigned to bees: the valuable contribution to the ecosystem tirelessly to the process of pollination! The bees in the effort to collect pollen and nectar, carry pollen particles flying from flower to flower thus contributing to the greatest miracle of nature, the perpetuation of the species!
The result of this activity is to strengthen our food chain with fruits, vegetables and bee products, the preservation and perpetuation of the biodiversity of plants, but mainly maintaining the biological balance in the world.
We, beekeepers, need to seize the products of this awesome society of bees, showing the same respect for the ecosystem that we all belong and thus contributing to the perpetuation of our species.
